I need some help on carving a 3D foot cake, to look similarly to the attached picture.
I'm thinking of baking a 9x13 cake, cutting in half and stacking on top of itself, carving out the basic foot shape and using the cake scraps to form the toes.
Does that sound doable?
Any advice?
Thanks!

This sounds pretty fun. Yeah, if you plan to make it so the heel is laying on the cake board, and the toes are pointing skyward, I would probably put the whole cake on a very thick foil-wrapped cake board/drum. Then, once the foot was built up to the toes, I would take pointed bamboo skewers, and shoot them straight down thru the tips of the toes, until they are anchored firmly into the the board/drum. One for each toe. You may even want to shoot a long drinking straw up the sole of the foot, into the leg, to keep everything together, so the ankle doesn't split apart from the foot flexing. Then ice it and put on the details.
If the cake is such that you plan to have the sole of the foot facing skyward, and you are just going to do some sculpting for realism, that would be very cute too, and would not require all the supports.
Hope that helps.
