This will be my first red velvet cake and I was wondering if I could subtitute beets for the red food coloring? The recipe calls for 3 tbsp of red food coloring and I would prefer not to use it but I would still like a deep red color. Any suggestions would be welcome.
I have never used beet juice. However, I only use 1/2 the amount of red food coloring my recipe calls for and it is still very red.
