I just finished my baby shower cake, it's 3 tiers......a 6", 8", and 10". My baby shower isn't until 3pm tomorrow. Is it safe to stack the cakes tonight so that I can finish with a buttercream border? Or would it be best to wait til morning?

i stack the night before with out any problems. As long as your support system is stable then you shouldn't have any problems, especially if you don't have to transport the cake, although i do transport stacked cakes with no problems to date.

Ya they will be stacked on top of each other with just cake boards in-between and I put plastic dowels in each cake. So it should be pretty sturdy. Do you think I need to put on big sharpened dowel all the way through all 3 tiers or is that just to help with moving it?

Will you be stacking it on the table where you plan to set it up for the party? If so, I wouldn't worry about a center dowel. If you need to transport it somewhere or will be moving it around a lot, I would dowel it.

Ya I'll be stacking it on the same table. Though I was wanting to wait until morning to put the themed tablecloth on so my cats don't eat it. So I would have to pick it up and move it for a bit.
