Hi. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a woman's 50th bday cake. My friend at work asked me to bake her sister's bday cake. Its for approximately 30 people and she wants yellow cake with lemon filling. The rest she left up to me. Ive been working so many hours, my brain is fried and I can't think of a single idea except maybe doing some kind of chocolate fondant or bc with gold accents??? Help!!
this one is the yummiest lemon cake i've had, it's very rich and tasty: http://www.dianasdesserts.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/recipes.recipeListing/filter/dianas/recipeID/57/Recipes.cfm
If you don't like the cake, check out her other recipes, they're all fantastic!
and this inspired me for the birthday cake I need to make today: http://www.villagecupandcakes.com/GourmetCakeFlavors.pdf
How about a simple autumn theme? Do a lemon-flavored BC frosting and leave it pale yellow; decorate with brown/orange/gold toned leaves and branches. If you want something kinda cute, add owls and "Whooooo's 50?" Or if you want more elegant, maybe a gold-painted "50" topper, or leave off the "number" and just pipe "Happy Birthday" in gold or maybe in chocolate.
I've seen some cute cakes cut in the shape of numbers. You could make a five and a zero.
