I'm making a cake to look like a beer keg, the clear one used in the process of making beer. I need some kind of icing that looks like beer foam.

Thanks for any and all help

Could you use white buttercream or whipped cream?

You can use Pastry Pride. It makes perfect foam for waves or waterfalls. Since it's hard to explain, here's a link to a cake with ocean whitecaps to give you an idea:

Whip the Pastry Pride the night before, refrigerate, and don't stir it again when you place on the 'beer', it will look more like real foam. If you want Guiness smooth foam, stir it really, really well until it's smooth.

I did chocolate buttercream. I dyed it a lighter brown than the chocolate cake. I was going to also add melted marshmallows onto the "beer" as well but I finished the cake at 3 am and did not want to take the time to melt the marshmallows. The picture is in my photos.
