I am making a rodeo cake for my friend's son. I plan to make the bottom layer a red bandana. Should I pipe on the fondant with royal icing ot buttercream?

Thank you!

Either will work so go with whatever you are more comfortable.

RI will dry hard and your design will be safer from smudges. BC will crust but can be smooshed. BC will taste better.

Royal is easier to remove if you need to fix a design. As the other poster said buttercream can smear.

Thank you. I am going with RI because I have some of that hanging around. I only have lemon buttercream in white and I don't think that would work and I am soooo tired of making stuff and cleaning my mixer.
