Gift Cake??

So....before I start, I'm not a "random" that has no experience and sees a pic, and wants to try it...my nuts and bolts aren't clicking right now to figure this 1 out... icon_confused.gif So, I'd like to make a cake like the above pictures, but how do I stack them and what's between,I'm lost?! Please help with any ideas!!

This is how I would go about stacking this type of cake: the gift lids I would make them from cake boards and cover with fondant, I would use bubble tea straws for support along with a wedge between the lids and the bottom cake to leave space for flowers or whatever you wish, and continue to stack like a topsy turvy cake.
