Colored Buttercream Cracks Or Veins

Anytime I color bc and spread onto cake, it seems to vein or look like it has cracks which are prominent in that shade. using wilton's and indydebs reciepe and finshing viva method. Any suggestions on how to cut this down?

I avoid dark colored buttercream for this very reason! Only suggestion would be to use a thicker board so the cake doesn't have any "wiggle room".
