Help!! I'm making my first wine bottle cake, and all has been going well until I applied the glaze (1/2 clear corn syrup, 1/2 vodka and gel color). As it is drying it looks mottled. I made another figuring it was from shortening I had used. I used no shortening the 2nd time and it is still happening - not as badly, but enough. Any suggestions for correcting this?

Thanks for any help!

Don't know what you mean mottled? That's what I used for my wine bottle ( in pics) and it worked fine. Was your gumpaste completely dry? Mine was a little streaky at first but dried fine.
