Whipped icing doesn't hold up under fondant--sorry. Too much water and too much air to take the weight.

I use this recipe--with whipping cream in it--and people love it:

whip cream icing will turn fondant into soup. I use swiss meringue buttercream under fondant all the time and it works great....the texture is light and fluffy like whip cream, IMO. Best of luck.

What about Pastry Pride? It sets up a lot firmer than whipped cream and yet has kind of the same taste. Does anybody know if this works under fondant?

No sorry pastry pride won't work under fondant either. It will liquefy the fondant.

I used this recipe under my fondant and it worked fine: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Whipped-Cream-Cream-Cheese-Frosting/Detail.aspx
It's the orange cake photo in my gallery.
Good luck! icon_smile.gif
