I know its been asked before, but I cant find topic..I would like to know if sams buttercreme crusts? I am a newbie and will be doing a cake for my nieces birthday..I dont like the wilton buttercreme so will like to try the sams. Any help will be appreciated.
Anytime!
I still to this day shamelessly love their buttercream! Though I hardly ever, ever use it...its just more cost efficient to make it (for me anyway) my own way...hmmm which reminds me I have a tub of icing I made in the pantry I need to get used up
I have used Sam's buttercream and it will crust, but I have never had very good luck with getting it really smooth. It has alot of air in it.
I love Sugarshack's buttercream recipe. You can find it under the recipe tab. If you make it in a 5qt mixer like recommended, it comes out perfectly smooth and spread wonderfully. I love it. It is my go to buttercream. I think there may be a youtube video that shows how to make it, but not positive on that one.
Sure (But I never had any issues with the Sams BC)
I use 2lbs sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup salted buter
1/2 cup veggie shortening
Vanilla to taste (I start with about 2 tablespoons)
Splash of milk if too stiff
Mix together the shortning, butter and vanilla. Slowly add your PS. Add in the milk if needed.
This is my to-go to buttercream...I do use IndyDebi's if there is a request for something a little less sweet. Hope this helps!
How do you buy the Sams BC? I have only seen it on the other side of the bakery counter, do you just ask?
Walmart will sometimes sell it if you ask...sometimes not (it depends on who the manager is truthfully).
But, Sams will sell it to its members If they dont have any buckets out in view just ask!
