Rice Crispy Moulding

Hi, i've been making cakes for 6 years now, but only just come across rice crispy cakes, features and bodie parts! I'm doing a vampire halloween cake and want to make his head out of rice crispys. icon_confused.gif But how do you get it to take an ovel shape? and can i cover his face in fondent icing? Please help!!! icon_smile.gif

U should be able to just shape it into an oval with ur hands and I think u put frosting on it before fondant so u done get bumps and so it sticks to it. Prob want to double check with someone more experianced but that is my thoughts

I will be making a giraffe out of rice krispy treats soon I was think of dripping or pouring melted chocolate over it. I had made a camera out of rice krispy treats before and put buttercream on it before covering with fondant, still could see the bumps so that is why think covering with chocolate would work better.

If you crush the rice crispies with a rolling pin before making them it will give you a smoother finish and not so bumpy. Also decrease the marshmallows and butter a little it will help make the treats more firm. Covering the sculpted treats with modeling chocolate or fondant works well.
