Hi Everyone!

Just joined the group....very excited :0) I am looking into the possibility of starting a home based cake business in Nova Scotia Canada and would like some advice from anyone who can help as to how you went about it. I know the basics such as registering the business etc but since this is "food" I was wondering about the legalities you have to go through when dealing with a home based food business.

Thanks for any info you can provide. Happy Baking! :0)

Hi -

I'm in Ontario. It is probably best that you contact the Ministry of Health and ask them about the requirements for the hygiene of your kitchen. You'll probably have to have it inspected once you know what the requirements are.

Also, the province probably has some guidelines/resources for small business operators.....e.g. taxes, WCB, etc.

Good luck!
