how does everybody do their zebra cakes? I know you can cut out the stripes and put them on the cake but I heard there is a way of "splicing" colors in your fondant so when you roll it out you already have the stripes in it. Has anyone else heard of this way or tried it?

I have rolled out my base color (white) and cut out my black zebra stripes and laid them on the base color and then rolled them in to the base color. It flattens them out so they look like one seamless piece.

I've done that with a camo cake. Used different colors green and rolled them all together. I usually cut my zebra stripes and put them on.

phew, zebra cake is done. I am happy with the design, but not entirely happy with the smoothing of the fondant. Heart shape is definatly the trickiest shape I've covered so far. Hope everybody likes it anyway.
