I've never attached a silk ribbon to a cake before. I my cake is fondant covered. Will royal icing make the ribbon greasy or anything? Will it make it stick? Help!
hi I normally attatch it with a small drop of butter cream where two ends meet. works well and its at the back of the cake so not normally visable
I always use a tiny dab of royal icing i put a little on one end of the ribbon, and smooth it down, wrap the ribbon around the cake so its nice and taught, add another dab and smooth it out again, It never stains, it will look darker at first, but once its dried it will be normal
Be sure to let your fondant dry for a while so it forms a shell, so when you put the ribbon around, it doesnt create a groove in the icing
