Could please answer a question about a red velvet cake mix that someone posted that used a BC cake mix, 1/2 c. sour cream, 1/2 c. buttermilk etc. I copied the recipe on note book but it seems like it was so thick. I am probley stupid, but along with that recipe which also included 4 eggs, vanilla, a box of white cho. pudding mix. My question is, DO you still add the 1 1/3 C. of water that it calls for on the cake box??? Thanks to all, and especially the person who I cannot remember.
I think you're referring to the Red Velvet Redux recipe posted by Blakescakes? I use that recipe all the time, and yes, the batter is very thick. You do not add the 1 1/3 cups water called for on the box, just the oil, buttermilk, pudding, sour cream, eggs and vanilla. Try it, you won't regret it!
