I'm making my first purse cake this weekend. I've attached a photo of the purse I'll be doing. (Coach poppy expressions tote)

A few things

I'm thinking the best way to get the colors is to hand paint the fondant. The only time I've painted I've used luster dust/vodka mix. Is there a dry food color I could mix with vodka...though I'm concerned this would leave streaks. After the pink/purple/blue are dry I'd paint on the black details.

I also need some advice on the chain/strap. Should I make the links out of gum paste then paint with silver luster?

The key chain on the bag is really small and detailed, can you recommend a tool I could cut the fondant with to get the small details?

Any tips appreciated! Thanks!
