Hi, I have stacked cakes before so dont have a problem with it as such. My question is can I stack a fruit cake on top of a sponge?

If you use a proper support system then you will be able to stack anything on anything. You just have to make sure the dowels or columns or SPS is holding up your upper tier and that it's not resting on the cake below.

I don't see why not. It's the support system that bears the weight, not the cake.

As long as you make sure your dowels are level and that the cakes are not taking any weight you could stack a cement block on the top of a sponge cake .

Cool thanks for your replies. I thought it would be ok but just needed to check with the experts.
