I am experimenting with scratch recipes to change over from mix extenders. Could some of you tell your go to white scratch cake recipe. Some say , theirs is to die for and get so many compliments. That is the one , that i would love to try. tia Is using buttermilk better than whole milk,etc. Is using just egg whites the best way to go also.

I have just recently discovered the white cake recipe on Wren's Cottage website. Scroll down to the bottom and click on Karen's Kitchen. I've made the recipe into cupcakes and they were fabulous!! I didn't use whole milk, I used lite white which is probably the equivalent to half and half. I'm not sure if that makes any difference to the recipe, but I use that in all of my scratch recipes only because that's what we drink at home. HTH
