I'm doing a cake in fondant and would like to cover the board in fondant as well.

can anybody tell me how the best way to do that?

should I do it ahead and let it dry before putting the cake on it?
how do you handle it without messing it up ?

How I do it is: Brush the cake board, especially the edges, with piping gel or the likes. Roll out the fondant and lay it on the cake board. Then I put the board on something to elevate it. Like my thing of crisco or a juicy juice can. Then I take a good sharp knife and gently, with the blade pointing up and away from you, as you rotate the board slide the blade down against the bottom edge of the board. and there ya go!

My orange cake in my photos has fondant as the cake board. My wilton instructor had us do this a week ahead of time but with my orange cake I did it the day before and I had no problems with fingerprints or anything like that.

HTH!
