Hello, I am stumped with my current wedding cake order. The bride's daugther contacted me and wants to give the wedding cake as a gift to her mother. The wedding colors are dark purple and dark red, the bride wearing white. I have total control of the design, whatever I want to do is fine with them but their budget is $300 and they want buttercream icing. Anyone have any ideas??? I'm trying to find photos of this color combo but the only thing I can find is red hat society things.

Thanks in advance!

Any flowers in those colors should look good. A bit of light green (leaves) accent shoud finish it off nicely.
Purple could be daisies - either the petals or just the centers.
Of course for red there is always roses; or apple blossoms for starters.

Red bands around each tier trimmed above and below with the narrowest of purple band (bead border with a #2 tip even) with either a bow (2 loop stylein same color w/same trim as banding) or a brooch (or cameo even).

Here are some pics (some are just purple and red (not necessarily dark but I think making them darker would still look good). Of course budget would be a concern but I just thought I'd add them so you could see how the colours look together and perhaps get some ideas.

Check out the one wedding cake I did in purple/deep red-orange. It's fondant covered but could easily be done in BC.

It is a fall wedding and the mum idea I really like. I also love all the floral cakes and the ribbon idea which is where I was kinda heading in my head but not just quite getting there.
Thanks so much everyone!!!

You could also decorate the cake with anenomes...they come in red and purple..and they're a relatively easy flower to make so wouldn't take you oodles of time to make.
