Just curious and learning.. Is sponge cake same as regular cake that you use out of cake box (dh). If not are the sponge cakes better?
Let me know please and one more thing how long do you keep them in freezer after you put icing?

I don't know if they make a boxed sponge cake mix, but it is different than a regular yellow cake mix. It uses whipped egg whites as a base, then you fold in the egg yolks, & dry ingredients. I don't know if it's better than a yellow cake, it's different, lighter.
I'm not sure about freezing, I've never done that.
