Royal Icing Transfer H Elp Regarding The Color Black

I have a question about RI transfers.
I recently did a Mickey Mouse and outlined his head in black, the ears were black, etc. and the face white.
The black ended up bleeding into the white and made a pink tone near to where the black was.
My question is how do you use black without it bleeding into the white?
Do I need to do the black first and let it sit completely to let it dry before adding the next color, particularly white?
I need to do a hello kitty for a cake th is week, and I see the same problem happening unless I get some great advice here, which I know I can, so thank you in advance!
yes, let the black dry well, maybe even 24 hours. make sure both the black and white are not too "runny". i find the thinner those colors are, the more they tend to bleed.
Also, if you use Americolor, you won't need much coloring. The color deepens over time, so you could stop adding when you have a charcoal grey.
Thank you all, it is very appreciated.
I have used Americolor in the past, and just need to order
more since they don't sell it locally.
I did like it much more than the wilton colors.
Thanks again!

If you have a Hobby lobby near you, they just started carrying them
