Cake #1: Fondant with purple strip and lilac design. I see, obviously, the purple is just a cut strip of fondant..but how do they get the lilac design on? Is that fondant or royal icing? All done free hand?

Cake #2: I love this cake with the scroll work...I cant seem to get mine to look the same freehand. Is there a pattern that would be traced?would that be royal icing?

Thanks in advance! You all always seem to have the answer Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif

first cake.... the details look a little thick, so im thinking maybe done with fondant/ gumpaste and an extruder. although you could just use a thicker tip and pie as well. shouldnt amtter that much.

second cake, piping could be done in anything pipeable. you can buy stencils and stamps for scrolls. or if you have the design, you can trace over it onto a cake with a safe tool, then pipe over the indentations. or, practice makes perfect too!
