If you can find an OLD Kitchen Aid, grab it. I found one on eBay--made by the HOBART company. They're much much more sturdy than the new ones.
I also love my BOSCH. It's an awesome machine, and has a bottom drive so the bowl is completly covered when mixing. No poofs of flour, powdered sugar or sloshed out wet ingredients.

Don't know if you cab buy them in the US but I have a Kenwood Major Titanium - 6.7 litre bowl which mixes very big cake sizes - I love it
