Hi Everyone. Its me again, lol.

I want to make my DS a small Laptop Computer Cake within the next 3 days for her Birthday Celebration. Ihad planned to make her a shopping bag cake BUT before she left for vacation, she hinted to mee that she wants a LAPTOP COMPUTER CAKE.

I need to know how to construct the lid of the Laptop and how to make it stand up.

Any and All suggestions are greatly appreciated. TIA

thanks cakeythings1961, I took a look at it and that's exactly what I want to do. Now that I know to use foam core for the screen itself, I just have to find out how to get it to stand up now, lol. Thanks for your help icon_smile.gif

I made a laptop computer just last week! Had the same problem with the lid, and this is how I solved it: before covering the lid with fondant, I glued in the back a series of flat sticks, all protruding enough to be inserted deep into the cake. Covered the lid, and all I had left was to place the lid, with the sticks securing it in place. Just to make sure, I added a piece of fondant in the bottom back of the screen

I always make the computer cover with sugar cookie dough. Before baking, place cookie sticks in the dough, leaving 2" sticking out. Bake and then ice the cookie, using edible paper/ink for design if you like.
