The original WASC recipe here is very popular as a white wedding cake--search the recipe tab for "WASC" and you will find it easily.
I've used white cake mix w/1c buttermilk & 1 extra egg white per box for a rich, not overly sweet white cake that is dense & moist. I did not brush it w/simple syrup.

Also, similar to the WASC...actually just a variation...the White Velvet Cake recipe found in the recipes section is wonderful. Great dense moist tecture and taste. I recently switched to this recipe for white cake, and everyone raves about it.
