Congratulations! Kind of ironic that we will be getting the June/July magazine the middle of August.

Why, thank you! They're playing catch-up with the issues since they've been revamping the style of the magazine I thnk that the goal is to have the issues be out at the right time by the end of the year. (or so I heard from someone who's doing a tutorial for the December issue) The content of the last few issues has been much improved over the ones that they used to put out. More photos of cakes with explanations, more tutorials and industry articles, that kind of thing. It's not such a basic skills mag anymore, which is nice.

It's pulled isomalt, I have no sugar equipment other than a measuring cup and a silpat mat. It wasn't that hard to figure out how to do those types of flowers, but I don't know how to do any of the more complicated stuff. I have no time to take any classes, boo!

Congrats. I was wondering what technique those were. I never have received the ACD I subscribed to, and they sent me an invoice for another year....ummm, no. Hope they can get their act together and make good on the subscriptions/issues that haven't been sent.

Congratulations! Beautiful cake. I didn't subscribe this last time it came due. I had subscribed since 2005 and never got all the issues I was supposed to. They have been claiming to get their act together since at least 2005, and it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully this time it's for real. I liked the magazine when they sent it, and would subscribe again if they could guarentee I'd get what I paid for.

The June/July issue JUST came out?!? Wow. I stopped my subscription a long time ago because I wasn't getting the issues I was supposed to, but kept getting renewal notices even though I was paid up - so I won't be seeing it in the mag. But congrats - really cool cake! icon_smile.gif

They got rid of the old editor and have revamped it. It's a totally new format, much better than it was. I think they got so far behind in the printing that they're playing catch-up with getting the issues out on time, but if they skipped the months on the cover and just said "this is the August/Sept issue" I'm sure that people would complain about that too. I know that the editor told met that she was taking the mag to the printer about a week or a week and a half ago, and I got the issue yesterday, so that part of it doesn't take long.

Quite frankly, if it had continued with the same type of projects and real basic stuff that was in it, I wouldn't resubscribe either, but the last few issues have been a lot better in terms of how complex the tutorials etc. are. She told me that they're trying to make it aimed at a higher level of skill and have more in it than just basic projects. They also have more industry news in it than they used to, so that's good for people who have businesses.

Way to go Kara! I'd love to be on the cover of a magazine. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit would be awesome, but ACD would be alright too! icon_lol.gif
