I need some new fondant smoothers. I'd like to get two so I can try to make sharper edges and I'm planning on buying the bigger ones with all squared off corners. Right now all I have is the little Wilton one. I found what I was looking for but in both metal and plastic - any opinions out there to which is better... and why? Any other advice on these would be great, too. Do the bigger ones really do a better job, etc. Thanks!
I don't have an opinion on metal or plastic but wanted to pass on a tip that I learned when I went to a presentation by Nicholas Lodge. He smoothed his fondant while it was still on the counter so get all of those ridges or marks out while it's on a hard surface. Then when he put it on the cake it was already smooth and only needed to do the fine tuning on the cake. Good luck.
