I got a strange request for a cake and I'm having a lot of trouble thinking of how to decorate the base cake. The cake is going to have four stacks of money, a watch, and a bandana over one corner. I've got an 8" square to make the money stacks out of and a 12 inch square, just 2" tall, for the base.

I was thinking about cutting the 12" in half and stacking it to make a shoe box, but this cake is for a guy and I don't know if that'll be too small of a shoe box for a guy, or too "girly".

any ideas on what I should do with the 12"?

Why don't you just make the base look like wood and have the stuff sitting on top of it? (Cigar box, maybe?)
