I need to make a layer cake. Flavor is Strawberry with chocolate chips. I planned on baking it in a 12"x18" sheet pan and cutting in half to make 2 layers. Although I'm tossing around a 2-tiered cake (8" round bottom and 4" round top).

Is there a really good strawberry cake recipe that would hold up and taste great? It will have chips added to it keep in mind. Strawberry cake seems to be my downfall. Oh, and it will be filled with fudge buttercream.

Personally I would use this recipe.

1 strawberry cake mix
4 egg whites
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 small pkg of instant Strawberry pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350
Incorporate all ingredients together one by one on low speed.
Make sure to mix thoroughly between each ingredient.
Once all ingredients are mixed turn mixer to medium and mix for approximately 2 minutes.
Bake at 350 for 30 35 minutes
Its a very durable recipe. Just add mini choc. chip they will bake it better than reg. size chips.

I love this recipe, it's delicious and holds up well. And it uses fresh strawberries rather than pudding or jello. It doesn't make much, I usually double it for cakes.
