who is 3, but is lactose intolerant. He's able to have eggs now, but definitely no milk and I'm going to assume no sour cream. His mom has told me she bakes with rice milk for him because he also can't have soy. I tend use doctored cake mixes, mostly DH. Does anyone know if I shouldn't use a mix for his cake? I saw in another thread that there is a non-dairy sour cream. Does anyone know if this is soy based?

Sigh...maybe I should look for a scratch vanilla cake in which I can sub the rice milk and not worry about sour cream.

I usually use SugarShack's buttercream and I'm pretty sure I'm okay to the recipe as written with the coffee creamer. Anyone think otherwise?

Thanks in advance.

You might be able to read the label on the box of cake mix and see if it has milk or soy. I know they usually have a disclaimer for if it might contain nuts and I think they are doing that more now with milk, soy, egg, and other common food allergies.
