If you were going to sculpt a small set of flip flops for the topper - what would you sculpt it from?

Thanks in advance.

I did that recently. I had good results with fondant with a little tylose mixed in. Here's how they ended up:

Looks great! What is the purpose of the Tylose?

I think it helps the fondant harden quicker.

I dont know if you can get it at a grocery store. I know you can buy it online. Do you have a retail bakery store? If you do try there. Maybe Michael's????

How much is added to the fondant?

you can also use cornstarch and it helps make fondant harder. Use just enough to roll out =)

Yep, get your Tylose at Micheal's. I add it until I start to feel resistance in the fondant. The fondant does dry faster and harder with the tylose.

Thanks ladies/gentlemen - I have cornstarch at home - so may just use that.

Thanks for the tips. The cornstarch worked great and they dried very fast.

I just made a flip flop cake this weekend! Mine were made with fondant/tylose. Just for future reference...I use 1 tsp Tylose for a pound of Fondant. Here's a link to my cake, I just posted it. icon_smile.gif http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1761043
