I am planning on entering a cake into our fair and using cake dummies. This may be a dumb question for some but I am wondering is it ok if I do the cake 4 days ahead of time and just let it sit until entered. I know the frosting will harden to the dummies which is fine. I am wondering how far in advance do you make your cakes when entering them in an event. Like I said maybe a silly question !

I say do it ahead- then if anything happens you can fix it before the fair begins. Just keep it protected from dust.

If you are doing a dummy cake you can do it at any point. I am hoping this weekend I get a chance to work on my cakes for the ICES convention, which isn't until the second weekend of August.

Just keep it out of the sun, boxed up if you have kids or pets and it will be fine. icon_smile.gif
