i found an old martha stewart book about weddings...and all the cakes in there were 3 inch tall cakes for each tier ...that seemed odd to me, is this common?....no torte or anything...just 3 inch cakes.
when i have done them they were always 2...2 inch layers
I think the operative word in your question is "old."
Yup..the standard now is 4 inches. Tho I have seen several that were 4 inch mixed with 2 inch! Makes a pretty cake too.
