I prefer to use airbrush food colors straight out of the bottle--no mixing and they dry nicely.

I am still pretty new to this cake thing, so are there any certain brands you use ? my dad has an airbrush machine he has never used he actually bought it to paint fishing lures, but never did ! I think that would work great i just have no clue what to use in them

I like AmeriColor Airbrush Colors.

Regular gel food coloring (Americolor or Wilton or whatever, but the good gel kind, not the liquid 4-pack stuff you buy in the supermarket), thinned with a clear alcohol (vodka, everclear, lemon extract) or just water, works really well.

I used Americolor and a sponge to do a tye-dye affect. It worked very nicely.
