Really, I've just played around until I get the color I want. I think the last time I needed hot pink I used Americolor deep pink and a tiny bit of their fuschia. It was definitely a hot pink color.

I just did a hot pink fondant cake this weekend. I was afraid I wasn't got to be able to make it hot pink but it came out great. I used Americolor deep pink!

Americolor Electric Pink is great. On the 6th Birthday Bling cake in my photos, I used Wilton rose pink on the stars and it came out nearly the exact same shade as the Americolor Electric Pink. I just added a little more until I got the color I wanted.

It's a matter of personal preference, but I usually add just a little burgundy coloring to my hot pink to give it a little more depth.

If you're fussy about the color, be sure to give yourself time to let the colored fondant sit overnight. Some of the colors do change with time. My bright lime green fondant had become leaf green when I needed it! [/i]

I had to do an MTV cake for an 80's Birthday Party (pic is in my album) I made my own MMF, before I needed in the PS I added Americolors Electric Pink to get a nice hot pink color.

Hope that helps.

I actually prefer the Wilton Rose for this color because it doesn't take very much. The Americolor seems to leave an aftertaste, with this color anyway.
I've used both and actually prefer the Wilton for this color for that reason thumbs_up.gif

By the way Mamawrobin I noticed that you are from central Arkansas. I am from Vilonia. Where are you from?

Yane Posted 20 Jul 2010 , 4:54pm

You can make it with gel color but you can also buy Satin Ice hot pink premade fondant.

I live in Sheridan. About 40 minutes SW of Little Rock. I do know where Vilonia is thumbs_up.gif We should get together sometime.
