I am looking for a gold food color (not yellow) for a50th anniversary cake. Anybody have any favorites? icon_biggrin.gif

I think you need to mix gold luster dust with vodka or something similar and paint it on.

Americolor has a gold coloring. The below cake usings it.

If you are looking for more of a truer gold color you will have to use luster dust on it, either by dry painting or mixing it with an alcohol to paint with.

Is there anything I can use instead of alcohol to paint on the luster dust?
