My sister is getting married in March of next year. So far, her plans are to be married in New Orleans in a Plantation house....
She is currently looking for a New Orleans cake artist.
Anybody out there so I can refer her to you??
Thanks!
My sister-in-law is in Lafayette, LA. Not sure how far that is from New Orleans. She is korensmommy on CakeCentral. Hope that Helps.

Thank you for the info!
I researched and La Fayette and New orleans are approximately 135 miles away from each other...so I'm not sure if that's going to work
Gambinos and Swiss bakery are the best known bakeries in New Orleans. Look into what they have to offer. Which plantation?
I *think* the Plantation is called Oak Hill....
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll tell her to look into it
Oak Alley maybe??
If so Oak Alley is located on River Road almost smack in the middle between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, so that may widen her options a bit.
Also, Sharon Zambito, aka Sugar Shack is located somehwere in the greater New Orleans area. Something tells me she may be busy, but it would be cool for her to make the cake.
Really?? Sugar Shack?! That would be so cool if she were able to make the cake!
But then again..she didn't make mine. So now I'm jealous. LOL
I'll look into her..
Thank you!!
Soooo jealous! When I was a little girl, I always wanted to get married at Oak Alley! Your sister is a lucky dog!! So we can be jealous together! I did get married at a plantation, and it was wonderful, but to get married at Oak Alley is really something special. Good luck finding a cake!
PS...Why aren't you making it??
PSPS...Totally kidding.
Oh dear... I wish I was able to! It's just going to be too crazy!! Flying from Miami to LA and I'm a bridesmaid...
It'll be too crazy and I want to enjoy the festivities
I just sent her an e-mail. Crossing my fingers!!
Maybe I'll get to meet her!
OMG! I totally forgot about Hydels Bakery! It's also VERY well known in the NO area. Its where MY wedding cake came from. And it was AMAZINGLY delicious, although it was pre-cake interest and I did not choose the most attractive of cakes, but I didn't know any better.
Thank you! I'm going to look into Hydel's Bakery as well.
Thanks again for your recommendations!
It's actually "Haydel's", my wedding cake also came from there and was delicious.
IMHO I've never seen any better work than from Sugarshack, wish I would have heard about her when I got married. I've seen cakes from the other 3 mentioned and they were all very nicely done.
Let us know who she goes with and pics!!
Baba, I know u asked me about this and I think I lost the email... will you ding me again please and I will check dates?? So sorry for dropping the ball....
Silly! Oak Alley is in Vacherie, LA. About equidistant from New Orleans and Baton Rouge. There are plenty of lovely smaller bakeries in the BR area--more cake artists than traditional bakeries. I love what I've seen from Cake Godess and Janell's Cakes, but there are many other great ones as well. And of course Ms. Zambito, if she's available would be the #1 choice!
