I want to make a Mad Hatter / Topsy Turvy cake madhatter.gif and am aware that there is carving involved.

Now my question is can (should) these cakes be filled with anything than buttercream and can I add simple syrup to the cake?

It will be 2 tiers and I am afraid that it might shift with simple syrup and or filling it with anything other than buttercream.

Any advise is greatly helpful! icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks

First try this thread it has a lot of really good information in it:

In my opinion, I think you should use a stiffer filling, such as a ganache, or buttercream. And I prefer the SPS when doing topsy turvy.
