My First Decorative Cake And Cupcakes - Thoughts?

Hi my name is Sharon and I'm from South Africa, really excited to have just joined this forum

I'm looking for feedback on my first proper cake decorating project. It was for a friends parents 50th wedding anniversary.

And I also did some cupcakes

So what do you guys think?

they look great! but if you don't mind me asking, what are the cupcakes sitting on?

Thanks K. It's made up of icing sugar, egg white, glucose, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (hardner). We call it sugar paste here, same thing?

Thanks for the comment. I apologize, it's not a very clear picture, but the cupcakes are actually the size of a Ferrero Rocher size cupcake sitting on a standard cupcake

Thanks for the compliment, I've been baking and decorating birthday cakes for my kids until they stopped me. The dears are now 24 and 22. But the need to be creative has prompted me to go more professional

The cake and cupcakes are beautifull, you did a great job on them.
Quick question, are the callas on the cupcakes also gumpaste?

Yes, they are. I cut the shape from the smallest petal of the rose set, flattend it out a bit between my forefinger and thumband rolled it from the bottom right. We call them Arum Lillies.
