I was thinking "what a waste of gumpaste to do the body and head of a doll" so I decided to "sculpt" some styrofoam and then cover it with gumpaste (50/50 gumpaste/mmf actually).
My first attempt of the face wasn't very smooth, so I covered the whole area with a very thin layer of the gumpaste/mmf. The result was excelent! icon_smile.gif

That's great! Do you have a side view of the styrofoam head?

Sorry, no...
But it was almost a straight cut. You can compensate al the curves and forms with the fondant after.
I cut the whole thing roughly. I used styrofoam from the insides of a box of something I bought icon_biggrin.gif

About 7 cm, which I think it's a little less than 3 inches
