I have to make two cakes this weekend for my son and a friend's son. They are coming to visit on Thursday-Sun. We are meeting them at the Dells at a resort on Thurs. and we'll all drive back home together on Saturday.
Here is the dilemma. I only have Wed. to make the cakes because we'll be gone through Sat. We will be eating the cakes on Saturday. How can I make and decorate the cakes and store them 'til Saturday? Will they still be fresh? Or should I just go buy and pick up a cake on Saturday? Would cake boxes work?
It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask. : )
I use the WASC recipes and they are fine for about a week. If you bake on Tuesday and decorate on Wednesday as long as it is sealed up you should be fine.
What is WASC?
Ok, I found out what it means. : )
Many people bake on Wed for a Saturday wedding, so you really wouldn't have to do anything special to it.
You could freeze the decorated cake but would then have to let it thaw before eating it.
Thanks Texas! I think that's what I'm going to do! And I know someone who can help me out too!!!
Can you freeze a cake with fondant on it already?
