I have to make a five tier caked that is trimmed in swags (easy), but it looks like each swag is held up by a knot (not easy). It's a Martha Stewart cake (champagne-colored knots and swags on a white fondant cake, and a couple of porcelain doves, which we're skipping). How do I get these little knots to look like they're holding up the swags? Nothing is draped on the top of the tiers; everything is on the very top edge of the sides. Yikes. Any input would be GREAT!!

I wouldn't think you really need to hold the swag up by the knot, just make it look like it. Get the swag fastened to the cake and then glue the knots on where you want them to look like they're holding it up the swags. Does that make sense? I think I can imagine what you described but can you attach a picture of the cake? Maybe I'm not imagining it correctly.
