I just returned from Ikea, where I purchased bars of dark, milk, and hazelnut chocolate for 85 cents/ea (provide you purchase in groups of 3. I'm not sure how good the quality is for ganache, but I'm sure gonna try it. Are there any other places to get inexpensive chocolate? Cuz this find just thrilled me!

I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's around you, but their chocolate bars (1 plus pound) are around 4 bucks and that includes 70% dark chocolate. I have used it and the ganache turned out really well.

Thanks to another cc'er on this site I found block chocolate at Trader Joes. Unfortunately they didn't have white choc.

Wish we had both of those stores in my town. For places like that we have to drive at least an hour and a half. Argghhh.

Trader Joe's does carry white chocolate, but it's not their brand. It's Ghirardelli brand and it's still a pretty decent price. They usually have it in a basket near by their other chocolate.
