I have been using WASC and WASC variation recipes for my cakes. I need a dense, sturdy cake for the cakes I do, mostly carved or stacked. I'm tired of those recipes plus pound cake is a better cake to build with. I've stayed away from pound cakes mainly because I have bad childhood memories of pound cakes, lol. I have never had a good pound cake. Can you all suggest any recipes? I don't want a super moist, bouncy, or soft cake. One that taste great but is sturdy.

Thanks!

I like the recipe that is in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. I think it is a sour cream pound cake. dense and yummy.

Have you tried the Durable 3D doctored cake mix found here on CC? I used it for my bible cake. Simple carving, but it worked great, and people loved it.

I think it's called cream cheese pound cake on this site - it's my new absolute favourite vanilla cake.
