I am doing a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. However, it will be VERY hot here in Vegas so I was wondering if it is possible to do a cream cheese "flavored" buttercream instead of using real cream cheese.

THANKS!

Hi, I asked the same question a few days ago (search Cream Cheese at a Beach Party?)

Thanks!!! Luckily my cake will not be outside during the party but it is a long drive away to deliver it. I just ordered cream cheese flavoring from The Spice Barn. I guess I'll just have to start experimenting.

Thanks Again

Great. I had been looking for cream cheese flavoring too but couldn't find it in Loriann Oils. I did find cheesecake flavoring which I have to test in my buttercream as well as the reg cream cheese frosting added to buttercream. I will check out the spice barn too, thabks.

Jess, I have used the crusting cream cheese buttercream recipe from Design Me A Cake website with success. Will this be served outdoors?

Ooops, sorry, I just read your reply. Well, good luck with your cake! I have travelled a cake for an hour with that recipe with success as well.
