Im making a butter pecan cake and the last time I made on I used whipped cream buttercream (Im not a fan of regular buttercream...too sweet) But I wasn't really happy with the combo...and suggestions as to what type of icing I could use?
i use Cake Love's IMBC recipe:

and I just add some melted caramel bits to taste. ~2 Tbs I think.
I've had good success with brown butter icing and with plain buttercream flavored with butter pecan coffee creamer.
I made this cake a few weeks ago for my dad for father's day. I made an old school caramel frosting (butter, brown sugar, cream, etc) on the stove, let it cool, and then whipped in PS until it was spreadable. I put a pecan praline filling b/w the layers. SUPER DELISH!!!!

I just made the IMBC with caramel and HOLY COW it's good! It's gunna be GREAT with the butter pecan cake! YUMMY! (I can't stop eating it!)
