I made my gum paste pieces a yellowish gold color w/ the wilton golden yellow...waited for it to dry, then painted it with Americolor gold airbrush paint. Not sure how u get frosting that color but if you're using royal and can paint it after that might help... icon_smile.gif

I should add I don't have an airbrush, I just painted it on with a paintbrush

One of the best ways I have found to get gold icing is to color the icing yellow and then paint it with mixture of gold luster dust and a clear alcohol or for a better shine use orange or lemon oil.
Hope this helps

I had a similar question a while back, and I was told that you can't colour icing gold or silver, like someone said if you are using royal icing you can maybe make it a deep ivory color and paint over it in Ameircolor gold and you don't need the airbrush you can just paint straight from the bottle without adding alcohol.

I don't think you can colour buttercream a true "gold" as far as being shimmery. I've painted fondant and gumpaste letters and such both gold and silver (pearl dust) but not buttercream.
