I am doing a variety of cupcakes with Seuss themed gumpaste decorations on top for my twins' first birthday (for the guests). I need a great idea for their smash cakes though. I will do separate ones and thought about a mini tiered cake (which is still an option) but I thought I would check with you all for some great ideas.

I would make them look like Thing 1 and Thing 2!

Snocilla-

Would you do flat, round cakes; tiered; topsy turvy; cupcakes, etc? I'm curious as to what would be impressive to the guests but not too difficult for me as I will be very busy that week!

Thanks

I would definitely do mini Dr Seuss cat in the Hat "hats" they are not super difficult, they tie into your theme perfectly, and they will look super cuteicon_smile.gif

I was thinking something like this with a "Thing" sitting on each one

But if you want to go the simple route, you could always do this:

HTH!

I think crazy blue hair when I think about Thing 1 & 2.

The red & white striped hats would be cute

Something else you could do would be green eggs & ham. they would be simple.

I would use a single layer 4 or 6" cake. Cut one in a "cloud" shape (I don't know how to describe that), then you could use what you trimmed off for the yolks, so it's more 3D. Then for the ham cut out a ham shape & if you wanted you could use the scraps to build up the ham & give it a little more dimension. Then ice. if you use a crusting buttercream you can use a Viva papertowel to smooth it out--it'll smooth out pretty well
